  • Welcome and Intros

Hi, and welcome to the MrMD forum for male medica spouses. If you're here, chances are that your wife or partner is a busy med student/intern/resident/attending, and you find yourself constantly feeling overwhelmed with pride and frustrated by living with someone whose job takes such a toll on them and your relationship. Well, we guys may be from Mars, but we can still benefit from sharing our thoughts and feelings with other people who are going through similar expereinces, both male and female. However, being a man in a medical marriage brings with it certain specific challenges (even if BOTH spouses are doctors), so that's what this forum is about. I hope that you guys lurking on the boards will take the time to contribute here. And although I hope the women won't feel excluded from sharing their feelings in this forum as well, I hope everyone will respect the specific topics that guys may want to discuss freely here.

My name is Chris (short for Christian), and I'm the moderator for the MrMD forum. I thought it might be a good idea to have a separate "Intros" section for us here, in addition to the main one on this board, so please feel free to post a quick summary of your situation under this topic.

As for me, I'm 30 and married to a pediatrician who just completed her three-year residency and is now doing one year as the chief in her program. We live in the Portland, Oregon area, where I work for an online advertising agency and do freelance graphic design. My own background is in theatre, computers, creative writing, art and graphic design.

I hope you all find this forum useful and supportive.
