  • Ok parents of non-sleeping newborns.....

please give me hope that my child will be fully functional eventhough I can't get her to nap. I feel terrible that this child doesn't get more sleep. I run around in the mornings with my taxi service. In the afternoon, with two other kids it is difficult to get this child who will only sleep if she has a human pacifier. When I put her down, she wakes up or little people won't leave me alone enough so I have the time to let her sleep on me.

Usually, she is catching a couple catnaps during the day and sleeps decent at night. She is only 3.5 months, but babies need sleep and my other two slept a lot better. Shouldn't I know what I am doing the third time around? I have tried the swing, she uses a binky and is working on comforting herself with her fingers. I hope as she gets bigger, she can comfort herself a little better and this is all easier. I'm not getting anything done!

Oh how I feel your pain!!! I do!

I felt like a complete novice with this last kiddo. She NEVER slept well. And, at the ripe old age of 19 months, she is just now beginning to sleep through the night - I kid you not! She had the human pacifier thing going on as well.

But, I will give you hope: This, too, shall pass. She WILL eventually wean from her human binky. At 3 1/2 months most of my babies have been a bit difficult. Things get easier by six months. And, they generally get a lot easier by nine months.

I'm sorry -- I hope the pacifier helps! It is hard to find a chunk of time to give them (and you) a good nap.
