    Babyproofing?

    Anyone have any recommendations for babyproofing products? I bought the outlet covers and these anchor things for the furniture, but that's it so far. I was thinking of getting the mesh baby gates for the stairs as they can attach to bannisters. (we don't have any walls near the stairs)

    Any ideas for what's not necessary? Do I really need toilet locks? etc? What do you guys use for kitchen cabinets? I saw these tot-lok magnets that looked pretty interesting.

    I would appreciate any and all advice, thanks!

    You know what was really helpful for us was to call a "baby proofing professional." I'm not sure if they have these in every area -- but it worked great for us.

    What happens is they come out free of charge, check your house out and then mail you everything they would do room by room (send you a list). You aren't obligated to buy anything. Then you can pick and choose what you want from them. The best part is that they tell you what gates work with your house and latches they have used that are tried and true.

    The one thing I would for sure do in the future is the stair gates. We have ones that screw into the wall and latch. Also, window gates. Our windows in our house are low (our house is older) and not tempered glass. We needed something we could have on the windows to prevent falling out and help with the whole glass issue. I had a cousin whose parents did not do this and he almost died when he was three due to cuts and falling out a low window.

      what we have done with our double hung windows is put the screen on the top half so the botton is closed.

      wall gates for the top of the stairs, and pressure mount ones for the bottom.
      with our first son we just got pressure mount gates for the bathrooms and kitchen, sort enough for us to step over. don't know what we;ll do for this baby yet.

      those magnet locks are the best, but kinda spendy.

      we moved all chemicals, including bulk/unopened toiletries to the top couple haelves of the linen closet and put a kiddie door handle cover on the knob.
