DH was coming home after a long stretch of work days and my 4.5 year old yelled, "Daddy's home" when she heard the garage door open. My 2.5 year old yelled, "He's alive!".

We're finishing the basement, and spending a lot of working on it lately. DD was 'working' with DH and then came up stairs and said "Mom, I'm working so hard downstairs. But sometimes, I just have to take a break to go potty." Guess she's heard that one before. 8)

And the other day she was talking to my mom on the phone and I overheard her say "Grandma? Are you STILL talking to me? Put Grandpa on the phone, okay?" I'm still laughing about that one.

              Those are good.

Last weekend we went to 'return home' party. We had pizza, I had A beer, and the boys and DW had some Cokes. Usually when we are out, DW enjoys a beer or drink of the adult persuasion, but being with child she doesn't. When she was taking her first drink of her Coke, Drew says 'Mom, you CAN'T drink that! It is not good for the baby!' He thought she was drinking wine!

Our youngest just got in trouble yesterday. He had dragged the hose out into the yard and was holding down the dog, spraying him with water. When I asked him why he was doing that, he replied 'Sebastian (our dog) went potty and need to wash the germs off his hands'.

Sometimes, I just don't give them enough credit.

So I actually made a one of our favorite meals the other night & managed to get the three kiddo fed before Dh came home. Dh suggested to the older 2 that they go up to the playroom & watch a movie. So Dh went up & popped in a video & put the baby down in her crib. I in the meantime put on a Diana Krall CD dimmed the lights & set the table for just the 2 of us. It was awesome to have lovely adult tunes and no kids around...then DS come down and asks:
"Are you having a fancy date?"

                  to which we replied:
"yes, we are, now please go back upstairs"

                  he then said
" Why don't I stay and be your fancy waiter?!"

Matthew is very protective over food (a bit like joey in friends 'joey doesn't share fooooood') and the dog thought he'd help himself to a bit of matthews toast, so I heard this scream 'nnnnnnoooooooooooooooo ebbie'(the dog is called ebony) and I ran to him and caught him giving the dog a kick. So there I was giving out to him 'Matthew you do not kick the dog, you'll hurt him, if you do it again you will sit on the naughty step' and he turn his head to the side and put a hand on each of my cheeks and said 'mummy, you. are. gorgeous' and gave me a kiss and ran off. I was dumb founded.

a few days later he did it again, I started off with the same thing, determined not to be distracted by his incredible cuteness but he got me again 'Mummy are you sad, do you need a huggie, come here, I'll give you a huggie mummy, no need to be sad'

Anna got a helium balloon today and was having fun bobbing it around. Then she got a little more insistent that it stay close by and said "come down here" to the balloon. After the balloon popped back up, she said, "come down here and look at me when I talk to you."

The boys were all watching "The Wizard of Oz" this morning. Do you all remember the part where the Lion gets so scared the first time he visits the wizard that he runs out of there, through a window? When that happened, my youngest (5) immediately said, "He's going to have to pay for that."

                              Cracked me up.

We've just come home from having lunch out with a few school friends of mine and we were saying goodbye and he marched up to one of the girls and said 'do you know what?' my friend: 'no, Matthew, what?' Matthew: 'my mummy is cool' and he tossed his head in the air and struted over to me and said 'mummy, where's the car'...hmmmmm he'd make a very good spoilt film star! and the child health nurse said he had delayed speech!, I don't think so!
