So are half or more of the families in the military...guess they shouldn't have kids either.

Console yourself with one word: Asshats.

      It is a humbling experience.

I will never forget the looks on the faces of the workers when DW and I came in TOGETHER, with wedding rings on, for a few of the meetings that they required. Nor will I forget the looks on the faces of the people at the grocery stores either...

DW has got some great history for her patients and their families, she always makes me so proud when she tells someone about the ways to get the needed help...from a first hand point of view.

WIC stands for Women Infants Children. You qualify when you are pregnant and/or have children under the age of 5. They give you stuff like milk, cheese, beans, eggs, juice, cereal, carrots, peanut butter, tuna fish, evaporated milk, and of course formula. It is a big hassel at times but worth it (going to the meetings, getting the right brands and quantity, standing in line while the checker figures out what the heck to do). In some places like San Diego they have WIC stores where you pick up your WIC check so that you don't have to go the grocery store.

I remember getting getting health care through medi-something for our boy. I had to go to the 'worst' part of town, and meet with a woman in the closed down hospital building to discus income, needs, etc....

It was like she could not believe I was there with a 4 week old, while my wife worked, and that I had all the paper work filled out with additional copies and everyones birth certificates etc...

saved us 700 dollars a month for the 8 months of his life, till residency started.

            Yay
