You are getting there! I think the nightlight could help. My kids have gone through phases of needing a little extra light in their room. As long as it doesn't keep her up, I think it is fine. Dark rooms can be scary for the 2s and 3s sometimes.

Ohhh I hope she sleeps well for you guys!
Sounds like you are on the right track for sure

My oldest needs something to keep a little extra light in her room - doesn't keep her up and seems to calm those little bit of nerves she has at night time!

1 1/2 hour nap in toddler bed with minimal fussing when I put her down - woo hoo!

She may crawl onto the floor and sleep in the corner for a couple of nights. She may completely freak out and wail and moan and fall asleep in a puddle of tears in the middle of the floor. By about Night 3, she'll get it figured out. In the meantime, no coddling. No books, no songs, no stalling. Tuck her in, say prayers, turn off the light and close the door. She'll get the picture eventually.

But I am really no-nonsense bedtime person. There's no last-minute sips of water, bedtime stories, nightlights, etc. in our world. I'm sure my draconian style is appalling to many. I just hate bedtime headaches.

In protest of some great injustice I inflicted upon him (I think it was the offense of turning off the lights to his disapproval one night), one night DS ripped off all the sheets from the bed. I made him sleep on his sheetless bed for several nights, until laundry day (when I change the linens). Reminded me of the time that I slammed the door in my mother's face when I was about twelve. Very calmly, my father unpinned the hinges on the door and removed it. I didn't get the door back for six months. Haven't slammed a door in anger since...
I'm pretty heartless too, I guess, because this appeals to me SO MUCH. I dunno, it seems like a lot of people my age let their kids dictate everything and my Mom was firm and loving, but very hell-to-the-no about things like bedtime shenanigans. This is the same person who grounded my sister by taking her bedroom door off its hinges for a whole month. She was "grounded from privacy"

Ahhh, outside of the box parenting.

Went to bed at 7:40 - minimal fussing and is out.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop...

Yeah, I talk a good game on the hard-line parenting theory, and I almost always follow it, but then there are rare moments where I just do the opposite, for no reason. Not in circumstances that send confusing messages regarding expectations and punishments, but on "special occasions." On occasion, I've been known to go out for chocolate ice cream for dinner and to stay up late watching TV, snuggled into my bed when DH is on-call. It's not often, but sometimes you just have to have fun.

Cheri: I'm glad she's doing pretty well with the transition!

Glad she is getting the hang of it...my DD slept on the floor in the corner of her room for the first week after we transitioned her (she was around 29 months I think)
