Strollers (so addictive!)

MissMartini, I had one and really liked it. We ended up selling it only because it was too similar in size/function to our Bob. We preferred our Bob for walks/jogs and ended up getting a much smaller Phil and Teds stroller for the mall, etc. The Uppababy felt a little large for cramped stores and restaurants for my taste (but I'm also freakish and overly worried about taking up too much space). If you're looking for only one stroller, I'd absolutely recommend the Uppababy. It's great that it comes with the bassinet, too.

Thanks for the "review". I love the bassinet feature. Our bedroom is right across the hall from our bedroom so I really don't anticipate the baby staying in our room very long and this bassinet seemed perfect with the stand they make.

Yes! We didn't get the stand but I loved the bassinet. Another cool thing about the Uppababy is that you can easily convert it to a double. Such a cool stroller. Gosh, why did I get rid of it again

I have a Bugaboo Cameleon and probably have several thousand miles on it. . I usually walk everywhere and rarely drive, so it's basically my car.

We also bought a Quinny Zapp for shorter trips and we leave it in our car. The Quinnys are far too low to the ground, and my 6'3" husband looks like he's pushing a doll's stroller.

The Bugaboo Bee might be an option. I love the handling on the Bugaboos.

ETA: I hope no one is offended by this post--we hope to get use out of the stroller for another baby, if we ever can. And you can pass them on or sell them for a pretty good price!

Alison- I'm interested to know how you do day to day errands without your car with a baby. I live in the suburbs now, but would love to have a more urban lifestyle, as I grew up in a big city downtown. Obviously when you live downtown, it doesn't make sense to drive too often, and I'm just trying to figure how do-able that is with a baby. For example, if you're walking around with the baby in the stroller, how do you do your grocery shopping without a shopping cart? Or do you drive to the grocery store, and just get a few items when you don't have the car? Anyone else have any experience living the pedestrian lifestyle with a baby? (Sorry to totally change the topic!) ...Oh, and anyone who is offended by your post needs to get a life! Sounds like you picked a great stroller for your lifestyle.

I stacked my groceries on the stroller & used a carry basket. I put many many miles on the mountain buggy. I shopped almost daily as I shopped at many different stores for various items & used corner fruit stands too. Most stores where i lived were small & didn't carry everything like the mega groceries here. I lived in Manhattan. The mountain buggy had a slanted kinda wide hood that I could stack quite a bit on. The down side of city living is the inability to haul a lot of stuff at a time.

I shop daily on foot with my BOB. I stick stuff every where and will wear a backpack if it's a big shopping trip. I usually bring a sling in case she fusses and then I wear her and stick stuff in her seat. Usually though it's not too many items since it's almost daily. It's not a necessity for us bc we
Do have a car but I prefer to walk bc then I only buy what I need and get good exercise too.

We had one car, which my husband drove to work, so we were usually carless during the day when my babies were babies, in a terrifically walkable city. I had hooks like this on the handle of my stroller, that I used to hang the shopping handbasket from the handle of the stroller. After checkout the bags would go in the stroller's basket and/or be hung from the hooks for the walk home. That was for "pick up something for dinner" type shopping. To get the gallons and gallons of milk, etc. I still had to take the car at night sometimes.

Most of the city dwellers have already mentioned what I do. We shop on a daily basis, walk everywhere (bank is two blocks away, post office is 3, my OB clinic is within walking distance, dh bikes 5 minutes to work when he's at the downtown campus). We have a milkman who delivers once/week from a farm!!! And we have milk, eggs, and cheese for a whole week. We also have veggies from a local farm delivered once/week. Milk takes up a lot of room in my stroller, so I'm happy that it's delivered.

Dd's preschool is about 20 minutes away by foot, which is a bit further than what I had hoped for, but I liked this particular school more than the one that is 2 blocks away.

We lived in a small town in California and I hated having to drive everywhere and sit in traffic for the smallest errand.

It's all about what you're used to!

Crazy! But a kind of I-want-that envy.

Quinny Buzz 4 opened automatically and you could close it with one hand, but when I wanted to buy it, they weren't selling them anymore. I don't know why.

I hate the Bugaboo seat straps. They always fall down off M's shoulders and come loose around her waist far too often. Low quality. She's always been skinny, but I can't believe I've never been able to get her strapped in to my satisfaction.
