Hand print

This may sound silly but I STILL need to get DD's handprint or footprint for her baby book and I am totally intimidated. She's 8.5 months and I am afraid she'll make a huge mess either getting the ink/paint all over or try and eat it. I suppose this is why it should have been done long ago!

I think I will do it in her diaper, before a bath..... but do you have any other suggestions as to what type of paint or ink to use? Or any other tips?

Did they give you a seperate sheet with her newborn handprints/footprints at the hospital? I just pasted mine into the baby book. The hands are really hard to get because they ball up their fists. Feet are easy. Do it when she's confined to a high chair.

I never saw any hand or foot prints from the hospital? Otherwise I would usw those.

Our hospital didn't do footprints/handprints, it annoyed me.

We do DD footprints every month (still haven't done handprints yet except on an ornament). We do it in her diaper, paint white paint on her foot with our fingers (one person holding her foot, one person painting), and then one person holds her over the canvas (we're doing them on a canvas) and one person presses down the foot. You have to hold them the proper distance so the leg is extended to the further point - we learned the hard way that she's REALLY strong and if her leg is bent, she will crank down to try and stand up (which of course we allowed her to do because we didn't want to injure her but it ruined the footprint).

Do you have a scanner? You can just photocopy her hands. Feet might be harder, but they might be easier to do actual prints with.
