I listen every week and have bought "seasons" but I'll have to check out this subscription! I missed last week. Sounds like it was good. I don't know any of the titles, but there was one from the perspective of a dad with a severe autistic son who needed full time care that I think about often, another about cryogenics, another about the Nigerian prince scheme and still yet another about a corrupt school district janitor services. There was a great deal of economics episodes in 07-08 that were very helpful in understanding things. Hmmm...There have been some wonderful fiction pieces as well.

If you like TAL you should also check out The Moth and Radio Lab. I listen to about 30+ hours of audio a week. I'd love to hear what else you listen to

The school janitor one! That's the one about petty tyrants or some such thing. It's very good. The app is amazing, Gwendolyn. Well worth the download.

Yes! That's the one! I had the app at one point, but it just sort of made news announcements. Clearly it is improved. I'm going to check it out now!

I just downloaded a few on the podcast app. Excited! Looks like they only have 1-2 historical ones but I'll be glad to have the most recent.

On the The American Life app, you go to Radio Shows and they have all 493 episodes since 1995 - you have to download them to the app to play. You can download a few early and add them to "saved" shows in the app if you are going to be without internet for streaming access. They also have pulled out categories of shows if you are looking for particular types or all time favorites.

Since I pulled out my phone to check the app, here are a few of my recent favorites:

            Red State Blue State
            What Happened At Dos Erres
            Blackjack
            What Kind Of Country
            Continental Breakup
            When Patents Attack
            The Invention of Money
            Petty Tyrant
            This Party Sucks
            Inside Job

....there are simply too many! I tend to lean towards the political/economic ones, though. Great storytellers on that show.

I usually never spend more than $0.99 on an app but I did spend the $2.99 on the TAL app. Best app money I've ever spent!

I was able to get the update on the app and it is now my favorite app! Just finished Dr Gilmmer. Wow!

The truth is you can't go wrong. I frequently listen to TAL and feel like I've never been disappointed

Did anyone listen to ASMR segment of the "Tribes" episode?

DH and I just did in the car. We were giving each other the same wtf look?

ST: that's in my short list of eps to listen to, but I did lol today while listening to act III of the allure of crime episode when the elderly woman was telling her story about being a serial shoplifter. So cute, yet still so illegal.

I've actually only listened to one episode, but I loved it
"Show Me The Way" had a story of a 15yo who ran away from home to meet fantasy/sci-fi writer Piers Anthony.

Oh there are so many great ones. As a recent concert, I highly recommend the aforementioned app and can recommend a slew of great episodes that made me laugh and/or made my jaw drop.

Thanks to this thread, I added the TAL podcast to my regular rotation (I listen to podcasts in the car during my commute) They re-ran "music lessons" a week or two ago, and I just about *died* hearing David Sedaris sing old commercial jingles in the voice of Billie Holiday. He freaking NAILS it. Amazing. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radi...ons?act=1#play

I LOVE his contributions! I especially loved "Americans In Paris" and his reflection on when he lived there and how he got by. He's great.

Recently I've also really enjoyed "Act V" and "24 Hours at the Golden Apple" (not David Sedaris but still, really interesting and great listens)
