Nope, it's always been public. I think it was accidentally locked, meaning no one could post anything. I just unlocked it, thereby allowing posting. It's rare that we have locked threads anyway and that's generally an admin call.

Basically all the podcasts are free unless you want to use a specific app (this American life has an app but I actually hate it).
