I didn't read the author's first novel, The Dogs of Babel, but apparently the storyline of this book is really different.
Lost and Found is the title of an Amazing Race-like game show where teams of 2 people race around the world, deciphering clues and collecting objects (an aviator helmet, sequins, a parrot). The author tells the story through each of the contestants with a chapter presented through the eyes of a contestant. Actually, I think that there are a few contestants who do not narrate the story. The underlying theme is about secrets that most of the contestants have and are hiding from their teammate or the other contestants or secrets that have been told by one team member.
It is a fun summer read. Definitely on the lighter side. I liked the travel descriptions. I was impressed by how each of the narrating characters was fleshed out. The author did a good job of developing each of the different personalities. My only criticism would be that one or two of the contestants appeared...deeper...than I would otherwise expect them to be when describing scenery or other imagery. At the same time, her description of place is one of the things I liked about the book.
