Oh, how it pains me to write this. I couldn't put Assassination Vacation down and adore Sarah Vowell on TAL and just about anything else. Had it not been for some sense of devotion to her, I might not have finished this book. It did pick up towards the end but was generally dry. I think that part of what makes her other books interesting are her present day experiences and observations mixed in with whatever history she is visiting or describing. I admire her interest and passion for American history, in this case Puritans and the beginning of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, but the level of detail....
