    How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent-- Julia Alvarez

    This book has all the components of a fantastic read: a complex family, a generational and cultural gap, a smattering of adventures. I was hoping that this would be akin to Amy Tan's tales of navigating life between two stark cultures in the context of a tight-knit and complex family. Unfortunately, the characters in this book lack depth and the story is disjointed. Sadly, I can't recommend this read.
