  • The Book of Illusions

I just finished this one, and it's really quite good. I kept finding that I couldn't wait to get back to it. I'd read other stuff by Paul Auster before, but had never been this drawn to one of his works.
It's a story of a Vermont professor who hits bottom after losing his family in a plane crash, and becomes obsessed with a 1920s silent film star/director.
It's all about parallels in people's lives, starting over with your life once you destroy the first one, and books.
The writing is superb, and the story engrossing.
