We rented this because Kolya is the nickname for Nikolai in Russian. (in fact, we call him Kolya!) Sure enough, its the story of a Czech man who through a series of bizarre events, ends up with a Russian boy named Kolya (Nikolai). The little boy is gorgeous and reminded us so much of our little Kolya. The man is a professional musician and because of the Communists and the 'unplanned' immigration of his brother, he ends up losing his spot in the symphony so all he does is play the cello at funerals. It takes place right at the time of the Velvet Revolution, so it's timely as well.
If you like foreign flicks, this is a good one.
