Awesome movie, just got back from the $1 theater with the kiddos. I cried a lot during this movie. It was wonderful. Highly recommend.

SO and I rented this over the weekend and it was SO GOOD!!! This is definitely a movie I would watch again tonight after seeing it yesterday. I think I'll buy it eventually. I cried too, and we were jumping up and down with excitement at the end! We were a bit of a sight so it's probably a good thing we rented it!

    GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

LOVED IT. Even though I asked my husabnd if it was a chick flick and he said "yes". He then paused and said, "but it was a GOOD chick flick."

and FYI- I heard an interview with the young lady who played Akeelah and when Javier kisses her on the cheek? That was both actors' first kiss!

I saw this movie the other night and really liked it. I have really enjoyed all the movies about spelling bees lately. First there was Spellbound, a documentary, which was excellent. Then there was Bee Season, which was a regular movie, and very good, but I liked Akeelah better.
