  • Hello! Introducing Myself.

My spouse is a PGY4 and starting his interviews for fellowship now. His specialty is ENT. We have no kids, but two dogs named Daisy and Max.

For some reason, the fellowship match is making me more nervous than the one for residency did. I'm excited for him, but worried about where my career will or won't go if we move.

That's about it for now. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Are you guys staying close to your current training location or applying across the country?

I work in operations in the same healthcare system that he's completing residency, so I should definitely be able to find a job since we'll be close to a medical center wherever we go. I'm just a little worried about if anyone will even want to hire someone who may only stay for a year.

He's applying across the country. I'm ok with that, but now that interviews have started, I'm wondering what kind of crazy I've gotten myself into! Lol. I never thought that I'd be the woman to follow my husband around for his job, but unfortunately that's the nature of the beast. I guess I'm having a bit of an identity crisis since I like my current job, but it isn't my dream. So, how do I find my passion while he pursues his? With only a year of residency left, it seems pointless to look for another job around here. However, sitting and waiting is not my strong point. Anywho, not really looking for answers, just sharing my current state of mind.

Hi! No advice, just hello. Mine is MS1, so we have a while yet. I hope you don't go too crazy during fellowship match!

Welcome! I know exactly how you feel. My husband will start interviewing for fellowship this fall. I swear I flip flop every couple of months from being convinced we need to stay to saying "well, it might be fun to live somewhere different for 2 years..." But I was so the same way about residency. Didn't care so much where, just wanted to go somewhere new. Much different attitude now.

                          Glad you found us!

Welcome to the group! Miss Daisy looks smashing in pink, I must say

My DH will be interviewing for fellowship this year as well and it does feel like a bit of a different beast than residency. We moved for intern year and moved again for the remainder of residency but I worked at the same hospital as him for that one year. I was a bit fortunate I found the position I did but it worked perfectly, so there's my "it's possible" encouragement story
