• So glad I found this community :)

Hello fellow medical spouses,

Firstly I am so glad I found this community. So a little bit about my fiance and I. My fiance is a US citizen, I am an Australian Citizen. We met in early 2013 while he was studying his first two years of medical school in Australia (its a joint MD program between the US and Australia). Late last year he moved back to the US to complete his final 2 years of medical school and then aim for a US neurosurgery residency. So we are currently doing the fun international relationship thing as well. I am in the process of working towards moving to the US once I finish my studies here at the end of this year.

When I went in search of support groups my primary aim was to find strength through shared experience as I do not know anyone who is dating/engaged/married to a medical student/intern/resident/doctor, so it has gotten pretty lonely, especially now that we are on opposite sides of the world with a 15 hour time difference.

Short of the GRE forums and US Grad School forums that I joined early this year I am new to this but looking forward to being involved in this community.

Thanks in advance
~ Mental Health Occupational Therapist, lover of horses, CrossFit, coffee, and the country (previously engaged to an MS4 and aspiring NSG) ~

Welcome! This place has supported many a relationship, births, deaths, weddings, divorces as well as supported its members through med school, residency, first jobs and seconds and navigating through all the perils and joys a medical family/relationship brings. Yes, even long distance relationships with SOs in other countries. So very glad you found us.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Welcome AmieLou

I can't wait to hear about Australia and your adventures moving to the U.S. Medical training can be a crazy process but we are all here for you (we've got your back!)

What do you currently do in Australia?
