  • Dogs and Macadamia nuts

I saw the chocolate post, so I thought i'd add this one.

These are BAD for dogs. While nuts are not good, macadamia are really bad.

Over Christmas 2003 I had recieved a gift pack of macadamia nuts, and our little boy was interested in them as he is with any food. So I was having fun with him tossing them and making him run for them, all in all a bonding moment.

Later on that day my husband noticed the dog wasn't himself. I just thought he was sleepy. There was something wrong. We went to the vet and when I told them macadamia nuts, they freaked on me!! Who knew?!?!?!? Anyways, after a long night at the vets, we were sent home with are charcoaled, drunk acting little guy. They do something funny to dogs, it makes them lathargic. The next day he was fine.

Anyways, a hard lesson learned. Hubby and I were dating at the time and I really felt bad, that was my 2nd time our baby had to go to the vet because of something I'd left out or given to him in 1 year.

My husband still proposed 3 months later.
