...has passed away. News didn't say anything about the cause. I read the other day how she was broke; I'm hoping she didn't take her own life. So sad.

      How sad.

Nobody will ever be able to top her national anthem:

Very sad. An amazing talent. But it is hard to say that this is terribly surprising. Her life was such a cautionary tale.

This performance could really teach a thing or two to some of these idiot pop divas who can't manage to remember the words...

As soon as I saw the thread title, I thought "is she dead?" Was it an OD? She was such a sad mess.

Such a waste. She was beyond talented. Such a beautiful voice.

I'm thinking of her young daughter and her mother right now. So sad for her family.

She had such a beautiful voice that hit the notes right on. Man, I remember idolizing her when I was around 8 or 9.

So tragic, and unfortunately not a huge surprise given the last several years of her life.

Ironically, we were at an 80's party last night and someone had the news pop on on her phone. It is so sad.

Kind of twisted that it happened the night before the Grammy's at the hotel that they hosts the big after party. Makes me wonder if it wasn't a suicide or some kind of "statement". Of course, I'm always big on the conspiracy theory, too.

It is sad. She's been so lost for so long. Makes me worry for Brittany Spears - even though she seems to be doing a little better.

She was apparently seen partying very HARD at the hotel bar with friends and was discovered in the bathtub of her hotel room. Copious prescription meds were in the room, too.

Addict + alcohol + Rx meds + late night drunken baths = very bad things.
