Okay - we really need a "celebrity" forum, but in the meantime ...

I watched the Anderson Cooper / Angelina Jolie interview last night. I have to say I was impressed with her. She practices what she preaches (donates 1/3 of her earnings), she knows her stuff, the pays her own way when making her UN-related trips, she acknowledges that her life changed for the better and she "learned what was important" after her first trip for the UN (which is when she came home and divorced Billy Bob Thornton). She managed to stay relatively "neutral" about the politics involved, and just kept talking about the desperate situation for the refugees.

Best of all, I liked the way she referred to all of her children --specifically talking about Shiloh's birth. She said "Because you're there for the birth, which I wasn't for my other two kids ..." Almost like she was a bystander for this one, not actually delivering the baby. She never referred to Maddox and Zahara as her "adoptive" children. She admitted being worried that she'd have a different feeling for the new baby, b/c she was genetically hers, but was relieved to not have that. I would be worried about the same thing - but I don't know that a lot of people would admit that.

Not a fan of the whole morality of the Brad Pitt relationship, but I've got to say that she does seem to be using her celebrity & money for good.

I watched part of that interview...I love Anderson Cooper. I missed that part where she was talking about the her children and the birth. What I did see was hard to watch. It just sickens and saddens me what the people in the Congo are subjected to. It is wrong on so many levels, I just cannot even imagine what they endure. The stories of the rapes. Babies, BABIES having their hands and arms severed. Women being raped and their husbands and children being forced to watch. The doctor interviewd at the rape crisis hospital....15 women EVERY DAY coming. They are raped for days on end. Some, after the men are "done" with them are shoving knives in their vaginas....or shooting them in their vaginas. Ugg, I just had to stop watching at that point.

I dont understand why there is not more being done for these beautiful, lively (no matter their hardship) people.

I like her too. I still haven't figured out what the deal is with her dad.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, so she works for a cause. Big deal. Her giving 1/3 of her income is not a noble thing to me. Just cause not everyone with that much influence does it, doesn't mean she's super special because she does.

I think it is a lot more telling when a person who has nothing gives, than when someone who has everything does.

She's okay. But, I can't help but thinking....bitch.... when I see her. Perhaps it is the freakishly abnormal lips, the body, the money, that's she's dating Brad Pitt. Who knows? Maybe she is a homewrecker. Maybe not.

        I'm just jealous.

I like her, but for whatever reason her lips really bother me.

A funny story about her dad...a few years ago my sister and I went to the taping of a Celine Dion special (don't ask me what I was doing there ) and Jon Voight was sitting in our row. During intermission, some guy from the audience walked up to him, said he was a huge fan of his work, and excitedly asked for an autograph. Jon said, "It's always a pleasure to meet a fan," or something along those lines. Then the fan said, "Wow, I can't wait to tell my friends that I met Christopher Walken!" :! Poor guy.

I think she's great and of course I'm all about her stance on her kids. and it is a huge deal in the adoption communities when people have kids after adoption or vice versa. Parents who have adopted can get a little bit wacky about how "you love your kids no matter what...blah".

              It's refreshing to see.

and hey- as much as I think Jennifer Aniston is a smart and attractive person, you could practically feel the steam between Pitt and Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

I saw an interview with Angelina before she gave birth and she was talking about how she and Brad were reading in bed and I thought, wow, they're as normal as they appear. I think that's the fascinating thing, for all of the money and fame and wealth, I can picture them whipping up PB &Js for the kiddos. It may be in the fab 1500 sq foot kitchen but I can still picture it.

Wow. She is a mixed bag. Not always the classiest lady, but she lives with passion and compassion I absolutely LOVE that about her. Thus even though I think that she's a bit of a nut job, I can't condemn her either.

I'm torn between wanting to like her and wanting to hate her. I like that she seems awfully genuine with her UN embassadorship and adopting babies whose fate I can't bring myself to ponder had she not.

But... I do think of her as a bit of a homewrecker. To be my own devil's advocate, I guess if she truly is as genuine as she seems, there was no fighting the sparks between her and Brad, regardless of Jen. But still...

While I think she's gotten more attractive as she's gotten older, her lips bug me too... They always look chapped! I once overheard a guy at a baseball game describing a woman as having "Pam Anderson t*ts and Angelina Jolie lips". I couldn't help but think, ew. And that he was a womanizing jacka**.

Didn't Pam buy herself some Angelina Jolie lips?

Overall, I like what little I know of her.

The only thing that oogs me out is that kiss she gave her brother and the Billy Bob blood thing. :!

I do hope she grows out of the punky biker junior phase for her kids' closets though. 8)

Do you all remember when she and billy bob were interviewed and they said they had f****ed in the car on the way over to the event.

Or that time when she said that they (she and billy bob) drank each others blood.....and the viles around their neck???

Clearly I watch too much ETV and VH-1

She has come a long way...class wise....I think.

Also, lets not put all the blame on her with this relationship thing...Brad Pitt could have kept his zipper up! Men, they're all pigs.....

Yeha, ditching Billy Bob was a pretty sucessful move. She looks much less like a herion addict now.

Personally I admire her. Like we all haven't made huge mistakes and done stupid things while we were young. It makes me feel good that someone MY AGE is making a differance instead of compairing notes on anorexia and their next home made movie. She is growing up and doing a fantastic job of it regardless of her poor judgement in the past.

I hope that was a paraphrase and taken out of context. It sounds awful.
