I like the dresses you all picked out, but I'm more of a brown/black/white gal. I would be uncomfortable in purple.

I'm not super comfortable with my body. The tummy's ok, and since I lost a good 15 pounds in Europe this summer, I'm ok on that front -- it's the m-fing legs.
I like that one Alison. It might cost a little more to get hemmed b/c of the layers / materials, but it's pretty. I also liked the one Janet picked out from Stella's suggestions. I was thinking she was nudging towards purple too ... thanks for clearing that up Stella!

You're right, Jenn. The layers will be something to think about, but, Nordstrom does free alterations on their stuff, don't they?

The short answer: it depends on LOTS of variables.

Doesn't Nordstrom have a petite section? Both LT and Bloomies carry evening/cocktail dresses in petite. Try hitting that first.

How do you post the pics from a department store to this site?

We're heading to Nordstrom when dh gets up. I love that store - it brings me back to my childhood.

                  Update:

I bought this dress at Nordy's:
                  http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2913853?ref ... in=related

and this one in brown at Ann Taylor:
                  http://www.anntaylor.com/catalog/outfit ... RY_SEQ_221

The Nordstrom one is beautiful, but my boobs are too big for the dress. I bought it in a size 10 to compensate for the breasts (to get coverage), but that means the dress is practically floor-length.

The AT one is great. The boobs are nicely covered and it fits better.

I like the AT dress better anyway. What color did you get?

                        Thank you!

I got the dress in brown - it fits my complexion better and I can recycle it for other events, if Vishenka lets me.

Love the dress! Are you planning on getting the matching heels shown on the website? I think they're great!

I'm not going to get the matching heels. I need a bigger, stacked look, because I have fat legs.

Just an FYI, my college-age brother, who worked one summer at AT, says people were constantly bringing back the shoes with broken heels. Just an FYI.
