  • Snow and low temps mean we will be leaving early (with everyone else) on Xmas Eve to go to my parents.
The freezing rain isn't supposed to hit until 2am on Christmas, so... There's that.

Our carload (dogs included) will be happy to see a White Christmas.

    • Had to make another mall trip tonight and it started to rain lightly. We're expecting rain on Christmas Eve and it's a soggy Midnight mass for the fourth year in a row.

      • Just had a large tornado come through our neighborhood, knocked our power out and evidently there's damage just a couple blocks over because the emergency response vehicles are everywhere. We're ok but it was freaky as hell. Not to be that stereotypical crazy person they interview on the news, but "It sounded like a train come roarin through!"

        • OMG niener!

We were supposed to have a (tiny) chance of a white Christmas, but now when I look out the window all I see is blue sky and a few scattered fluffy clouds. Oh, well!

I'm so glad you checked in! We were wondering about you in another thread about that tornado.

            • We're expecting a "blizzard" tomorrow, between 6 to 10 inches. The kids and DH are psyched. I am happy we don't have to go anywhere.

              • Holy. Hell. We live on a mountain. It's blowing SO SO SO hard here right now. My neighbor has a wind gauge...it's reading 90mph. Sustained. We lost power. The power guys were out, in a white out, in these winds, restoring power. I watched them at 3AM. They could hardly stand/walk. While I'm very grateful to them, I want to spank them for endangering themselves!!! Our barn is full of snow! I'm so glad the horses aren't home. We had to *literally* dig through snow IN THE chicken coop to find the hens and my mr chicken. They wouldn't have lived much longer.
Ug. This nor'easter sucks. Hoping the winds die down soon.
                How's everyone else?!

                  • Oh wow! I'm so glad your chickens were okay. I hope it improves soon. We got a little snow on Christmas, less than 2 inches. That was fun! We almost never have a white Christmas. I let DS play in it yesterday while DD napped, and he loved it! Anything over 6 inches of snow makes me miserable...

                      • Rainbabies, how awful!

Our speckled Sussex is enjoying her small amount of snow (approx 2"). I thought for sure she wouldn't handle it well, but she surprised me.

                              • My goaties were okay! The wind blew snow through the cracks in the barn, but they were fine. All the chickens recovered...and are fluffy and warm again. We are keeping them In their old coop until we can repair the damaged one. 13, my speckies (as I call them) are the three coolest birds. They and mr chicken are my fav. The specks will be out in the pouring rain, without a care in the world. I'm so glad the wind stopped. Ug.
