I'm doing my phone calls to the parents of kids on the pre-team... And one parent tells me that her daughter won't be attending the lessons, and can she please have her registration fee back, because her husband, the girl's father, died on Sunday in a soccer game. He was 49. He had a heart attack.

The mom: "I don't work, so I'm just trying to scrape enough together to get by. The kids are taking it so hard."

Such a tragedy, and she's so calm about it all... I know for a fact I would be a total mess. I would need my mom here taking care of all the paperwork, etc., etc.

Lately I've just been struck by all the senseless tragedy in the world, everywhere. I think it's God telling me to stop my whining and get a little perspective already.
