    Hello!

My name is Shel and in three weeks my husband starts his first year of medical school. We are in the process of selling off everything we own and moving from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania with a 4-year-old, a 1-year-old, and a Pug dog.

I'm a bit apprehensive, but my husband and I have always taken what other people consider to be great risks. Med school is just another reason for everyone to call us crazy!

Anyhow, I look forward to building relationships with other women who know what I am and will go through.

    Shel,

Penssylvania, huh? My husband did his IM residency at Geisinger up in Danville (back when it was Penn-State/Geisinger). Where are you all headed? Hershey, Philly or Pittsburgh?

PA is a nice state...the only thing that got me was the yearly state tax levied...for housewives it was something like $25.00/year that you have to pay for the priveledge of staying at home. When I got a part-time job, $15.00 of my first paycheck was taken out to pay for my priveledge to work...We had to pay $400.00/yr for my husband to have the "priveledge" to work as a resident...Not that I am harboring any hard feelings about that D -->D"> .

We actually enjoyed our time in PA and wouldn't mind going back...we are looking into a position in Allentown...so don't let me scare you off.

When does Med School get started up there? You must be in the process of trying to move...with two little ones and a pug ... ah, stress!! Will you have family nearby?

      Shel,

Where in Wisconsin are you from? We are interviewing there for a "real" job in September...perhaps you could provide me with some insight?

        Shel,

So sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you ~ what exciting times are ahead! Hang on! I hope the move goes well and the kids adjust. What is it with pug dogs? You guys are about the 5th family in med school or residency with pug dogs. Let us know what you think of med school and how it goes ~ Devera
