  • Diapers are for taking off!!!

I'm going berzerk with my twins right now. They just turned two and all they want to do all day long is take off their diapers. I put them in bed, and in five minutes they are stripped down. And it doesn't seem to matter what's IN the diaper... that's right. We've had some industrial messes to clean up afterward. If I stay in the room, they just fool around and never go to sleep. If I don't they fool around for a while, then go to sleep.

My question of you more experienced mothers is this: how long will this last? I think I'm ready to go nuts on this one! Maybe we are spending too much time talking about and playing with their little potties. Maybe they are just not ready for this. They are just 24 months old. How old were your children when you potty trained them. By that, I mean not when you started talking about it and "practicing", but when your child actually started using the potty consistently.

Thanks in advance for your pearls of wisdom!

I have two things to say:

    1) Put them in one pieces that are incredibly difficult to get on or off at night (like blanket sleepers or jumpers that button or something that zips down the back).

    2) Perhaps they are ready to pottytrain now and are sick of the diapers? If I am wrong it won't hurt. My son wasn't pottytrained until AFTER he turned THREE! (and we have discovered that any accidents he has been having are most likely a physiological problem rather than the potty training falling through - still have some more tests to run, sonos and such)

Well, we've been playing potty for a few months now. They sit on it, play with it by dragging it around, want to eat their cherios out of it (I don't let them!), but they have *never* actually gone in the potty. When the do run around with nothing on South of the Equator, they usually end up having an accident after about half an hour. Then they are upset. I think they just haven't learned to control when they "go" yet.

Jennifer, the back-zipper suggestion is a good one. I've actually gone looking, and I haven't been able to find any! They all zip up the front. I'll keep looking though.

Maybe you could cut the feet out of a normal blanket sleeper and put it on backwards? Then they would just have to wear socks on their tootsies! Just an idea - I feel your pain!
