  • Potty words!

You guys usually have really good suggestions...what can I do to get my 6 1/2 year old and 5 year old to stop screaming potty words at each other? I have tried ignoring (they just continue to delight in the bathroom humor ), getting angry (seems to egg them on) and getting furious (we all feel bad then!). Tonight we went out for Father's Day, and were at Applebees...and those two just went at it...I thought I would die of embarassment....

My aunt had that problem with her boys. The trick for them was to fine them each a dime for every potty word they used. They put had to stop whatever they were doing and put it into a jar they kept in the kitchen.

This quickly cut into their savings to the point that they weren't getting an allowance that they started to curb / kick the habit!!

The most important part to this is STICKING TO IT. Don't back down. Don't give them the full allowance even if they are good towards the end of the week.

If alllowance is not an option you can use TV time as the incentive. Let me know if this helps you.
