  • christmas gifts for surgeons??

    hi everyone!

hoping you all can help me since you have many years under your belt! WHAT do you buy for a man who:
    1. only wears scrubs -- and i've bought him so many clothes on other occasions that it's boring to me now, and it's not like he really has the chance to wear them that much.
    2. has no hobbies b/c all he does is work and read for in-service exams.

i'm stumped, completely!!! hoping you all can help with some excellent suggestions!! i don't want to get him anything house related either b/c then it might seem selfish b/c it's really for me -- he's more of a garden man but now it's winter??!! WHAT TO DO? i want it to be sentimental, too - i'm big on mushiness and sentimental gifts.

THANK YOU!!! i'll share gift suggestions with you all for ladies and kids if you need some, too!

    Hi Claudia!

Well, my husband wears nice clothes to work too, but they are now boring for me to give him too... So, I bought him a nice fleece jacket to wear under his Gortex (he was tired of his old one, and wanted a new one). If you got something like that, outerwear, at least your fiance could wear it to work and think of you every time he opens his locker! The other thing I bought Andrew is a candle holder. It's neat. It's a fist-sized chunk of rose quartz that's rough and natural in shape, with a drilled hole down the middle that you drop a tea light candle into. When you light the candle, the whole thing has a glow, as the quartz is translucscent. Rose quartz is something you should give to someone you love, according to the salesperson in this very cool shop. It's so gorgeous and it was only $25! So, if you gave your husband something like that, he could think of you when he lit it and remember to phone you! I like the idea of having Andrew think of me when he puts on his jacket everyday. What about some great sunglasses? Or what about a scupture for the garden (he could look at it inside until springtime). My husband is not into sports, but rather hiking and birdwatching and stuff. He just bought a salt lick to go and put in the forest for the deer and moose (we bought a 40 acre piece of land along the river near here, and he worries about the animals). I might get him a spotting scope for his bday. I could have wrapped up a salt lick block (those big blue things they put in fields for cows) had I ONLY KNOWN!

                hmmmmm

You know how surgeons where those little hats...they come in all different colors and styles...what about a "fashionable" one of those? I have a friend who got her husband an "ocean" ensemble one year with all of these cute little fish on the hat, etc...and he wore it....

                or

Book on the history of Medicine (did that one year)

I will have to think on this one...I haven't bought anything for my better half either...so I am equally as stumped...

My husband likes technological gadgets (palm pilots, computer accessories, etc.). I also bought him a couple of those Motorola Talkabouts last year that we really use a lot at the beach, mall, in hotels, etc. My husband also would like a skeleton. Since he's an ortho. surgeon, he really wants one of these in his office, even though I haven't bought him one. One year, I also had his med. school diploma matted and framed VERY EXPENSIVELY. If you do this, though, you need to make lots of copies of it first, because he'll need copies for applications for licenses and things like that in the future. I also thought of Janet's idea of sunglasses before I actually read her post. Everyone needs them and a really nice pair would be great. What else....a nice watch or if he drinks coffee, a good coffee maker or cappucino machine.
