January blues

It's funny, but the blues usually only last for about a week or two. Then I usually start looking forward to my bday at the end of January. This year, however, I'm sorta dreading my bday. I turn 40! Wahhhhhhh!!!! I suppose my childish reaction is proof that I don't act my age. But really, 40 is very, very young. I remember when I was 30, and the other university students (who were maybe 24) would look at me with their face screwed up and say "wow, 30...". It all just depends on one's perspective, I guess.



It's sunny today, and above freezing. So that's nice. Beats the -34 we had in December!!!

That's interesting, Lisa, that you found it so hard to turn 31. I found that 29 was harder than 30, because I was so cognicent of the fact that it was the "last year" in my twenties!



The more you get toward 40, the more you realize there are really cool, great people at all ages. My mom, for example, is 71. She walks everywhere, wears really fashionable clothes, and has friends that are MY age in her neighborhood. Everyone asks her for advice because they think so much of her. So, she is not your typical senior citizen. She looks more like Diane Keaton that your average 70 year old. But I think that is becoming more common as time goes on. There are so many people like my mom, and with our generation, we're more likely to age that way than to turn out like our grandmothers or mothers. We will age in the style of our own generation. Don't you think it's kind of interesting to see that shift?
