  • Claudia, how is your thesis?

Have you finished writing yet? I am just trying to get started...have a portion of my materials/methods done (the easy part ) but can't get myself going on the lit review........I just thought I would check in and ask.

i need reminders like that! or i might forget that i have to write one! it sounds like i am in the same stage as you. . .the worst one in my opinion!! i was *supposed* to have a draft of my prospectus done this Thursday but i worked on that play for the last ten evenings soooo nothing was done on the thesis, needless to say. i told my advisor i would have something for her around the 22nd. (pray pray pray!)

i'm still trying to figure out *why* i am writing this and i need to do the lit review and an outline of the chapters that i don't even know about yet! ha!!!!!

keep up the work, kris!!! it sounds like you are much further along than me!!

Kris and Claudia, I remember well those thesis hours almost ten years ago! The thing I remember was fearing the writing of the thing, but that ended up being the easiest stage--although it was intensive work over a few weeks. What took so much time was the research (actuallly finding the stuff). Then reading, then organizing. After reading, I had to think long and hard about what made sense and where I was going with it. Then, when I sat down to write on my old clunky computer, with my notes and lotsa coffee (grin), it all came out quite eloquently. In all, I found the writing stage a lot of fun, because I realized I had some good things to say and that I had absorbed WAY more than I thought.

I really enjoyed my thesis, and I think back on it as more fruitful than all the courses put together. So, good luck, and I'll bet you'll enjoy big sections of the whole project!

Reading these posts reminded me of writing my thesis. Ugh. I spent so much time writing, working on my lit review and agonizing over it like it had to be perfect. It took me a couple years to finish my thesis because I started working full-time right after my course work was completed. I procrasenated for a long time and finally turned it in very disappointed with the final product, but happy to be done!

Now I am taking a grant writing class and using my thesis as the topic of my grant. It is forcing me to look back at my thesis and I have realized it turned out much better than I thought.

Claudia and Kris good luck with the writing. I know how frustrating it can be. When you finish you will feel very rewarded.
