My husband is a just-graduated radiologist. We've moved across the country away from all my family and friends to Western Canada (I'm the only Canadian here, I think). I can completely sympathize. My husband is a 4th year med student and in the interview craziness right now! He just flew back in from Houston on Tuesday and he leaves again for Baltimore tomorrow (Thursday)!!! There is a paradox in that you want to have LOTS of interviews, but the more interviews, the more money traveling costs and the more stress from the coordination of interviews (especially out of town ones) AND the more $$$ you have to spend for traveling/hotel/food while you are gone! And now, we have the big harry problem looming of how we will survive (with three little kids) on the piddly salary of an intern! UGH! So, like I said, I hear where you are coming from! Feel free to vent anytime - I will be reading your post and nodding my head in understanding!

Oh Jason....you are tooooo kind to me...way to kind!!!LOL I never told ya phill was sane now did i??I'm the one making him same...for the 1st time in his life!LOL I think it is true that things do get easier the longer they are doctors but remember all that stuff i told ya'all in the e-mail bout him.He stayed that way with his wife of 26years and i think whats made the difference to him finally is LOVE...and Maturity.Meaning me being the grown-up one teaching him things!I think maybe i'll start a new topic here for us telling how doctors reach a point where they outgrow the spouse and how they keep working all those extra hours so they don't have to go home.Phill went thru this in his marriage and it's a chapter in the medical spouse books and i think maybe talking about it before you reach thoses stages can actually prevent it from happening!What ya think??

Lynn i think that is a great idea as long as folks aren't scared that there spouses are outgrowing them--that folks just realize that during residency nothing is normal.
