hey - has anyone received their schedule for next year yet? what lucky rotations did your hubby get? my fiance is checking his today . . . nervous!!! half of me feels like he will be on trauma or something during the first month of our marriage and the other half thinks oh come on - how could they be so mean - he'll probably be on nutrition or something!

    keeping my fingers crossed . . .

Medicine does present itself as the grand drama. It begins with the acceptance letter and ranges all the way to the dreaded match. We live and die by Sean's rotation assignment. It is sort of like a game show of our life: "no whammies, no whammies, oh crimeny... Transplant for two consecutive months at Christmas!" ugh.

Here's hoping that the powers-that-be are good to you and your family.

My vote is for nutrition (Do surgeons actually have a rotation in nutrition?????)....and I hope that everyone who gets their schedules these next two weeks if HAPPY with how they turned out!

oh hee hee! i just noticed my new nickname! how true, how very true! i love it, kris!

oh yes, there is one month of nutrition. but now that i am thinking about it, i think it was only first and second year. or something silly like that. kelly reminded me of the nightmarish transplant rotation - oh yes! i don't know *what* i was thinking to write that trauma would be the worst. transplant is the ultimate disaster. that is definitely my worst fear. thanx for the reminder, kelly!

we had an awful transplant experience about a year and a half ago. i had come to visit for the weekend and we didn't get to spend that much time with each other b/c of TRANSPLANT so we said ok, sunday will be good. we'll go out to lunch and talk and have a great time - BEEP BEEP BEEP - the pager goes off in the morning and my flight was scheduled to leave at 4pm - so he tells me that he is going to drive me to the airport right then at ELEVEN a.m. because he won't get out before my flight - so i was dropped off a whole six hours early and the tears were flying everywhere and i was fuming and slamming doors and everyone was staring it was drama. ooh, i sound like such a brat. i'm sorry. i wasn't a brat. i was just upset, very upset. and i told him that i wasn't mad at him but i was furious at the hospital. ok -- enough awful storytime!

well, the schedule is out! it looks like we are safe for our newlywed month! it's peds surgery which is OK - not the best but certainly not the worst. everything else is OK except for the double dose of transplant and another double dose of trauma.
