tomorrow is the day!

well kristin, janet & others -

my prospectus defense meeting is tomorrow AM. and yes, i am totally and completely freaking out. i asked my advisor to tell me what to expect. her reply: well, you will first explain your project and tell us why it is important, then you will answer any questions the committee has about your project, then your committee will ask you any questions they have about past coursework you took with them. and then you will leave the room while we discuss YOU.



i just don't know what to do. sure, i am the one who wrote my prospectus but i am so worked up right now that i cannot even bring myself to READ it! and i haven't studied my "past courses" that i took with these people!! so i feel totally unprepared and totally nervous.



can't wait until it is FINISHED. pass OR fail!

Just remember, they look bad if you don't get through it, so they won't let it happen (at least that is what I am telling myself!!!) At least you will have it behind you. Go out tonight and have a couple of drinks and just relax....

For both sessions, it was much more laid back than I expected. My question and answer sessions were more of a discussion among my committee members. A suggestion that helped me... Bring food for everyone to snack on. It makes it a little relaxed.



I was really nervous just like you are, but it turned out that my committe members were there to help me and asked fair questions and I knew more than I realized too!
