As someone pregnant with her fourth child I have to admit I am a little surprised that I haven't gotten any negative comments yet (regarding say, rabbits or population control or some such nonsense). In fact, what I HAVE gotten are comments on how amazed people are that I am ready to have another one after twins! I have to say that I completely understand these comments because a couple of years ago I was DEFINITELY not going to have anymore kids! Jon and I are both very enthusiastic this time around - in fact my husband is more excited with this pregnancy that he was with either of the other pregnancies! It is really fun to see his reaction (he's already nicknamed this five week old fetus). The only odd comments I got with my twins was people repeatedly asking me if I conceived them artificially (which I didn't) - and that IS a HIGHLY private thing to ask someone! I was really shocked by questions like that from total strangers of all people!

Labor is awful - won't lie about that one. BUT (and this is a big but) it is fairly short in the grand scheme of things (especially compared to a 40 week pregnancy). Just keep that in mind the whole time - that this will be over soon and that it DOES have an end. Believe it or not, you will forget the physical pain of labor (to some extent) after a few months - or a year with multiples . And, if all else fails, as one other lady mentioned - EPIDURAL (a beautful, heavenly word to my ears)!

Jennifer! Wow! I am just back from a long trip home (three weeks) with my two, and I am now just catching up on some of the posts.

Congratulations on getting pregnant with your fourth!!! That is great, as I know it's something you wanted. I am totally in awe of your energy levels. Our twins (for the rest of you out there, Jennifer and I each have sets of two year old identical twin girls) keep me soooooo busy I cannot imagine having more. But then, I'm an "older mom" at 40 with two and a half year olds. I won't say I won't have another, I'm just saying I don't think so at this point. But you seem to have boundless energy.

          Anyway, congratulations!!!

Boundless energy? ONLY when I get my sugar for the day (I made a sinfully good chocolate fudge cake last night after I worked out - talk about irony!). Thanks on the contratulations, Janet. It's so odd but with this pregnancy I feel incredibly in tune with my body - I don't feel in control in the least BUT I do feel like I know what to expect and how to head off any problems. My goal has always been to have all the kids I'm going to have by 30 for two reasons: I know that my energy level is going to really drop after that AND I want to have all the kids out of the house by my 50th birthday The kids are all looking forward to a baby. Alex has placed his order for a boy (if only it worked that way) and the girls are so enamored with ALL babies right now that they will be happy with anything! The only thing I have to figure out is how to cope with the odd sleeping schedule of a newborn and still manage to be Mommy to the other three. I might investigate getting a house-cleaning service for a few weeks after the birth IF I can afford it - we'll see. But, anyway, thank you very much for the pat on the back, Janet. Jon and I have both been looking forward to this event!

                      Jennifer,

I hope that you are still feeling well...you must be coming into your 5th or 6th month now? For me, the second trimester was always the best....

I am not sure if you were talking to me or the other Jennifer. But I will be 30 weeks on Sunday. Everything is going smoothly. I have been more tired lately though, especially since my vacation.
