What Specialty should Robin's Husband Choose? (

Yippee...so have you got all of the applications in? I guess it is just an interview/waiting game now? Did he apply straight anesthesiology or has he sent out a few surgery apps too?

We are still in the process of finishing up the application process and figuring out where to apply. He is only applying to one surgery program and that's because he was in Michigan and was able to interview while he was there. Anesthesiology is the total focus and finding out where his best chances of getting in are. He is working hard right now doing a rotation at a hospital where he would like to do an internship year. It all depends on how the interviews go. We are hoping for the best and feel good about the decision but it is a little daunting because he doesn't have the connections in anesthesiology like he did in surgery. Match day is going to be something!!!!!



Right now, I am just appreciative that Russ is back home and after the events of the past couple of weeks, the whole residency thing hasn't been at the top of our list. We are struggling to get back on track. We are fairly confident that it will all work out though.

Actually Russ JUST sent in his ERAS application 10 days ago so we are just starting. But, he does have 6 interviews for prelim. IM for his internship year and one anesthesiology interview in Iowa so far. I am amazed at how quick they are responding. The dean's letter goes out tomorrow so I expect we will be hearing from some more soon.



I don't know how we are supposed to fit the interviews in though with school. Did the MD programs give you time off? Russ is pretty much booked and with boards in January and keeping up with his rotations, interviewing doesn't fit in real well. We will REALLY have to plan it out so I am looking forward to hearing from more programs.



I am starting to find the whole thing rather exciting but my husband is not too thrilled about the whole process. Of course, he has to do all the work! I get the research job which is what I like to do.

Iowa City, by any chance? We interviewed there for fellowship and I LOVED it there...I wish we had gone! It was such a neat town!



Well, I can only imagine the stress involved in the match. We went outside of the match when we entered the US and then ID wasn't a match specialty.....I'm curious to hear how the interviews and everything go.....
