New in the potty saga

So James is going pee on the potty at daycare, but won't anywhere else. I think it is his teacher...she has gotten him to trust her somehow. Now, the poop James will tell us before hand, then sit on the potty for nothing, get a diaper and immediately poop

Just now he came over to let me know that he had pooped and I gave him the speech about how he needs to tell me so he can go poop on the potty...his response? "No." :thud: (Is there an emoticon where I can hit myself in the face with a hammer?)

I'm having the exact same problem with Matthew and the pooping, he tells me and sits on the potty...sometimes....and does nothing and as soon as the diaper goes on he poops no problem, he really has an issue with it. It would be interesting to hear any advice on how to over come this issue,

No advice here. Just a request for patience. My own son did this for a year and I lost it a few times. He finally got it -- at 4. I regret having pushed the issue. I got really down about him not using the potty when he was almost 4 - and I knew he could if he *wanted* to. It turned in to a total power struggle and I wish I hadn't been drawn in to that by a preschooler.

First child....many mistakes.

Totally normal....Unfortunately, they wait until they are ready to finally get the hang of it all.

We are going through the *exact* same thing here. DD, not even 2.5 yet, is almost 100% successful at school. At home, she couldn't be bothered.

Clearly, this is all about my ineptitude at parenting.

I got dinosaur stickers today. I am going to distribute charts and stickers to DS's many care giving/educational sites. I think that because he goes to so many different places the consistency is difficult to get down. So. My plan is to have the same charts and stickers everywhere, so that, maybe, just maybe, he starts making the connection on a broader scale. :|
