  • Easter Egg Hunt Ideas

I'm trying to start getting things ready for the neighborhood easter egg hunt...and here is my dilemna....

What I have at my disposal as a place for the hunt is an empty lot. There are no trees, flowers, bushes or anything...the builder keeps it mowed. Ulitmately, this means that there won't be a lot of...hiding places

I was thinking of getting a bunch of plastic eggs and filling them each with candies etc and then pretty much just...dumping them out there an hour before the hunt....and I thought I'd add a couple of golden eggs or something that when found would mean the child gets a special gift...ie a stuffed animal or something.

How does that sound? Any other ideas?

I wonder if I could find a bunny costume and make Thomas wear it

I've seen some costumes at Target, if you're in the market for one.

It's just one Sunday of fun after another for him!

I love the Easter bunny idea. When I was 12, I was the EB for the neighborhood egg hunt. It was really fun.

I've seen interval egg hunts. You send out kids 0-2 first. Then, you send out 3-4 year olds, 5-6 year olds after that and so on. Dpending on how many eggs you have, you may or may not want to set a limit, but do give the little ones a chance to get eggs too. Older kids get overzealous, and why their parents don't put a stop to it is beyond me.

That is such good feedback...I would have never thought of the whole older kid thing. I like the tying them together idea!!!! And...I like the little kids get to do it first idea!

much to think about...this is so fun. DH doesn't want to be the rabbit...but...if I find that costume he's stuck!

So...now what do they do with the confetti eggs? Do they...throw them at each other?

It might be fun to have some games too.....you know...teh race with the egg on the spoon thing, etc

I might be...making this bigger than it needs to be.

                  Cascarones, people....

That's the confetti eggs. They sell them here by the millions during fiesta. (Which is why I have the egg on my countdown to fiesta)

Nothing is more fun than sneaking up on my dad and breaking a cascarone on his head. The first time we did it he was sooooo uptight. That alone made it worth the price we paid.

(they sell them as fundraisers for the various groups that sponsor the various events during fiesta)
