DD1 made a valentine's day card for me at her school, it was signed XXOO. She explained to me that that meant horses and kisses, the X's were horses, and the O's were kisses.

For the longest time, when the kids complain about DH's working so much, DH tells them that he works "so that we can eat."

Luke apparently didn't understand the connection between working and salary and food on the table, so when Luke asked me where Dad was, I said he's at work. He's at the hospital.

      Luke: "So he can eat?"

This idea has really stuck, so whenever we ask Luke what Dad does at the hospital, he looks at us like we're crazy and says, "Daddy eats."

Last week we were attempting to corral the dude so that we could leave to go out to eat. We were walking out of his bathroom and he said, "Daddy, my affliction is worrying me."

We both paused and looked at each other (alarmed) and Rick said, "what did you say?"

        and dude repeated it.

Finally, Rick figured out that Nikolai was talking about his reflection. (he has full length glass shower doors). We never could put a finger on what was worrying him though...

Hysterical! That is right up there with my favorites of being "all bungled up to go outside in the snow" and worrying that the smoke betector will go off.
