  • Babysitter pay

    :wee:

A friend's 10 year old daughter is coming over in a bit to play with and watch Anna (I'm not leaving). It is her spring break this week but her mom's was last week and having her here is helping us both out.

I don't think she has done this before and when I ask her how much she gets paid, I'm pretty sure she will say she doesn't know. What do you think is fair?

Rather than a per hour thing, perhaps a lum sum for an afternoon? $10 is a lot of money for a 10 year old. My 1st thought was $5/hour, but that sounds like a lot of money for what may end up being you babysitting another kid.

She will be here for 4 hrs or so. I like the $10 idea. And I don't think I have a whole lot more cash than that in my wallet.

I totally left out a sentence of what I was posting. I also meant $10 as a lump sum was a good idea. We were cross-posting at the time Tara. Great minds think a like.

I think that the 10.00 total thing is perfect thing though seeing as you will still be there.
Hmmm, we pay our sitter 10.00/hr. That seems to be what all of our friends pay too! Minimum wage for the guys who serve coffee is 7.85 and I consider the 3 kidlets a lot more important than a cup of coffee.

What do you guys pay your sitters?

I pay $10/hr in most circumstances.

The $10 seemed perfect. Thanks, guys! A good time was had by all. She wants to come back tomorrow. Since my cable and internet went down and I didn't get a few things finished, I'm looking forward to it.

I pay my sitters 12 bucks an hour but 1) I want to undercut the competition and 2) they're both CPR and First AId certified and 3) one is fluent in Spanish and the other is fluent in Polish and Russian.

Of course, since I have to work tomorrow, I'll essentially end up making a little over five bucks an hour after all is said and done. If I didn't have a massive (boring) project due, I'd stay home.
