So my 13 month old is still happily nursing. . .and is not too enthusiastic about "real" milk. The problem is that I have noticed a sharp loss in my weight over the last few weeks. It's not really a blessing and I'm concerned because I know that I must look anorexic to some people. What can I eat to put on some pounds? (without going to Chick-fil-A every evening)

The first thing I would do if I lost a large amount of weight in a matter of weeks would be to schedule a physical exam - complete with full bloodwork.

Rule out a sudden new 'problem' before anything else.

You'll probably get the biggest bang for your buck with stuff that will stick with you for a while- complex carbs and heck, if you're losing that much weight- butter/cheese, etc.

Beans, veggies like broccoli, the ever popular mashed potatos. Full fat cottage cheese and yogurt or kefir.

How is your protein intake? Do you need to add more to you diet? Add some good steaks, dark meat chicken/turkey, pork chops, etc. (along with beans and non-lite tofu.

most importantly- make sure that you're not losing weight for some other reasons- like not eating due to stress....

I'd just add to the other recommendations - Greek Yogurt, Nuts, Avocado, Some good whole wheat bread dipped in Olive Oil or toasted with peanut butter...

Jenn, your always a wealth of nutritional information
Well, I think you for the compliment but it comes from trying to fatten up a seriously underweight one-year old with the added 'fun' of an intestinal parasite!!

Eggs with butter and cheese and whole milk, with whole wheat toast with butter and for the first month, formula...EVERYTHING had milk, cheese, butter etc. on it or in it or both!
