The boys are starting to get nervous about the big Australia move. Can anyone recommend a good book about moving for kids age 9-11???

    Hiya Sarah,

No advice, just a wee bit of commiseration. I hate to leave a poster hanging out all by themselves so I had to respond.

By any chance are you going any place in Victoria? I have some dear friends in Geelong. I believe that Tenshi, an active member here and kindred surg spouse, is a Convict, oops I mean Australian as well.
(just a little friendly kidding from one of the Yanks).

      Awww, thanks Kelly!!!

Nope, we are going to Manly (20 mins from Sydney) we have 2 sets of really good friends (the only 2 other guys who did ortho in DH's med school class) also going to Aust, but they are each going to be 1000 kms away!

Our boys have always lived here and the "BIG MOVE" was 13 kms down the street 5 years ago....they are getting nervous (AKA cranky) and I have no idea how to help them other than talking and trying to plan activities.....I tried to find a book about New South Wales, but chapters didn't have any.

You guys have all moved and survived and your kids all sound great so I'm hanging on to that!

My brother and I were 9 and 13 when we moved to Colombia -- it was rough but my mom's fears of uprooting us were worse than things turned out I think. We both adapted pretty easily despite there being a pretty big language and culture hurdle!

        Good luck!
