  • boo!!! ear infections!

ds has a double whammy.(both ears and chest/head cold) last night sucked. we couldnt get a hold of our pedi. friend...dh doesnt "do" kid dosing...the pharmacies were closed at 9pm and then FINALLY at 10 pm we found a 24hr rite aid. dh drove a half hour and got some antibiotics...with the help of an ER PA to give him dosing info (thank you! thank you!)

after dh went thru all his ID, told the pharm where he lived, his SS number, DOB, criminal background, education, place of birth, place of employment, a urine test, and 14 phone calls checking refernces....they let him buy tylenol with sudafed for my poor kid.

good gawd. does my dh really look like he is into meth?

anyhow, we finally got ds comfortable and we all got to sleep.

    lovely evening had by all.

I believe that is the law now. It happens here too.

Even better, my understanding is that sudafed (the real stuff) is prescription only in Oregon, now.

i know its a law..its just a ridiculous one (IMO).

ds seems to be okay this am....i just have to keep up on his advil or tylenol doses. ..making sure he is comfortable.

                Is the real Sudafed pseudephedrine
Yes. Most states have changed the laws for all products containing pseudoephedrine. DH picked some up for me last week (which he apparently hasn't done since the law went into effect), and decided he should have just written me a prescription - it would have been quicker and easier! (I'm sure it didn't help that he had to lecture the pharmacist about the sense in having Coricedin HB in the aisle, which a ton of abuse happens with, and Sudafed behind the counter). It's almost a joke - we have an easier time getting Ritalin picked up from the pharmacy now than Sudafed!
And, in the end, you can still get all of it in mass quantities delivered to your door via the internet. Isn't health legislation great?

The new law sucks, it has totally eaten into my meth lab profits for the last quarter

Alison - Good thing you don't live in Minnesota. You'd have a hard time selling your house once you disclose that it's been a meth lab. Honestly, we had to fill out about 10 pages of paperwork attesting that we have no knowledge that our house has ever been used as a meth lab. Now that we're moving to Ohio, it's all about the terrorism paperwork.

This must be contagious via electrons...My 5 month old has bilateral ear infections....he's been up all night the last several nights, we thought it was a cold, but there you have it. I desperately need some sleep - been getting some strange looks from students when I make some really dumb mistakes in class lately.
Let's hear it for amoxycillin - we just started it, and I hope it works fast!
Hope all the little ones feel better!!!

I've been wondering if that is why we had such a crappy night last night. No fever though.

I'm totally working in sympathy with you guys! Its like DS has had a month long bilat. ear infections, sleepsless nights, ds in pain, dosing up on the equivalent of tylenol and anti inflammatorys....friday can't come soon enough, might ask the anaesthesist for a bit of sleeping gas for myself!

Hope your ds is feeling better now

What's up with the e-contagion? We had a crappy night last night too, and I'm currently typing with a sad, whiny boy in my lap -- up an hour and a half past his bedtime. (Definitely just a runny nose here though, he had his well baby checkup yesterday and clear ears!) Baby's first cold!
