  • Crack me up

Anna has been cracking me up.

After our plane pushed away from the gate, she asked, "So when do we land?" Then when we took off a few minutes later, she let out a big "wa-HOOOOOO" as the plane lifted off.

    --

Last night, she was on the stepstool, talking into her stuffed seahorse and pushing buttons on the defunct security system. DH said something to her from another room and she said: "Dad, I am talking to Shiv (her friend). I am on the phone and you are interrupting me."

Wonder where she heard that before.

    ---

In the car for the bajillionth time, the kids were getting a little cranky. Anna was chatting away about something while Bryn was writing in her book. Bryn kept letting Anna know that she wasn't listening to her and was busy. Anna got fed up and said, "I'm not talking to you". Bryn said again that she wasn't listening so Anna said, "Bryn, I'm talking to Shiv and BE QUIET."

Quinn & Anna would make a great team. We just got home from a car ride where Quinn was yelling "wa-HOOOOO!" as we drove up and down the hills.

At first mention of Shiv, I thought Anna was planning an escape of some sort w/a homecrafted weapon. Is Shiv short for something?

She is a few weeks shy of 3 and a half.

I think Shiv is an Indian or Pakastani name? Why on earth would you think my mild-mannered child would be looking for creative ways to escape the house?

She has been wanting to ride a horse -- this is creeping into obsession territory. I told her I would keep looking for a nice gentle pony ride around the ring for her. Nope -- "Mommy, I want the horse to go really super fast" with quick clip-clop sound effects. Just so I get the picture.

I hear ya- Nikolai entertained everyone he met over the last week. Thankfully planes put him to sleep because I was worn out by Saturday.

Yesterday he announced, "mommy, I have big muscles." (ok- so he does but I have no idea where he got that from!)

Okay - 1st Indian name that comes to mind with Shiv is Shiva ... which you may want to know is the Goddess of Destruction. Just FYI.

Double exactly. I sit in amazement that someone can talk THAT much. It is extra tough right now because I have an ear infection in my right ear so I can't hear . . . I have to strain so hard to hear what DD is saying or else I will get the "MOMMY! MOMMY! I'm TALKING to you!!!"

Also is very funny to hear DD talk to DH in bed at night. He sits with her for a few minutes in the dark and she REALLY talks his ear off. I love listening from the next room. Last winter, DH was wearing longjohn type pants to bed and I heard DD yell "DADDY!! WHY are you wearing Mommy's pants?!" I thought I would crack my ribs.

The talk of horse riding has required a story....
We went to a family reunion the begining of June. I have a cousin with a child that has several genetic issues, one similar to Down's syndrome. They have a horse that has been trained for him to ride. It is a fat, old horse- you can tell from the picture. My cousin told my parents to have an adult ride before the kids got on, it hadn't been ridden in about 3 weeks. They, of course, didn't take the advice and just put the kids on it. It was fun.....

                            ...for about five minutes....

That is Colton, he was thrown off the horse, along with Drew- who was riding behind the saddle. The horse jumped straight up in the air, the boys lost their balance. Then the horse bucked and Colton went straight over the front, Drew then hit his face on the saddle and came off the back. I thought for sure that the horse was going to land on Colton. From where I was, it looked like he landed on his head. Visions of head/neck/spine injuries flew through my head. Thankfully, it was just a broken wrist.

Not trying to dampen the 'horse riding' thoughts....just wanted to share the broken arm story.

ps- the spot on his face is from his loving brother. He hit him with a rock...
