I'm not a jogger (outdoors) either, but I still love using our jogging stroller for our walks with the dog. Like you, I walk our dog every day and it's really nice to have those big wheels to cushion some of the bumpy sidewalks and stuff. We walk 1-2 miles every day, so now that DS is 18 months old we've probably put ... 600-700 miles on it already and it's still in great shape.

MIL bought both of our strollers for us, that's a nice way to go if your parents or ILs are looking for baby gift ideas. And don't worry about the weight restrictions, like everyone else has already said - by the time they're old enough to hit the weight limit they probably won't want to sit in the stroller anyway.

Flynn, I think that Bob you posted looks ideal because you can lock the front wheel. I've seen the Bob folded up and put in a car -- wow! -- that has improved since my jogger.

We have the very basic Baby Trend jogger from Babies R Us. I'm talking ... I think it was only $99. It's worked out great for us, but it's definitely not the fanciest jogger out there. My friend just bought the Phil & Ted's that you can buy with the adaptor to the put the carseat in, if they'd had that option when we were looking for strollers I probably would have preferred that.

Cheri - First, I think I missed something really huge while we were moving - congratulations! Okay, so having lived in Roch, I have to share our experience. I had DD in November, so needed a travel system (didn't want to take a baby out of the carseat to put her in a stroller when it's below zero). Got a Graco and loved it. Then, we had problems of lack of snow removal and wanting to walk the dog. I don't know how I talked DH into it, but we got a Zooper Boogie, and it's my favorite stroller by far! But, it doesn't fit in my car without taking a wheel off, so it's strictly a walking stroller. We also have a Combi that folds really tiny so that I could fit something in the full car when I went to Chicago. And, I have to admit, I have a fourth stroller that sits straight up that I bought a couple of months ago when DD was going through a phase where any recline would make her try to get out of the stroller. For that, I just got an inexpensive Chicco, and I really like it. The key is really to try them out before buying.
DH could kill me for the number of strollers we own, but I can honestly say I use each one of them at least once a week. And, the total cost for all four was less than $400, with the Zooper being the most expensive. But, I got that one off the internet with the previous year's model, which was on clearance. For our lifestyle, I really don't think there was a one size fits all stroller for us, but I would still start out with the Graco and go from there.

So if you get a "jogger" do the wheels need to be different sizes?

We think we have decided on the Bob Revolution stroller. There are two, one has three wheels all the same size (12.5 x 1.75 inches) the other has the smaller wheel on the front and two larger wheels on the back - other then that they are pretty much the same.

The stroller with the smaller wheels seems like it would be easier to get around like in and out of cars and weighs a couple of pounds less.

Thoughts?

I'll have to go measure our jogger wheels. I think they are 12 or 16".

Know anyone with either stroller? Maybe you could take their kiddo and your pup for a walk and see how you like it. My hunch is to say that for what you describe using it for, you would do fine with the smaller wheel. I *think* my neighbor has that one (smaller wheel) -- I'll check -- and when we go for a walk together it seems to do what she needs.
