  • shadows...

So last night, Aidan finally discovered his shadow. I don't know what prompted it (or which of my children egged him on about it :waiting: ) but he became hysterical! He was screaming and crying about shadows and his shadow attacking him. It was really terrible. I took him into the kitchen and our little energizer bunny was still awake (after crying herself to sleep twice in her crib ) so I showed him Zoe's shadow and my shadow and his own shadow...which he was mortified that he couldn't break away from.

We talked about where shadows come from, touched our shadows and slowly...he calmed down and wanted to see everyone's shadow.

I carried him back up to bed and as he laid there falling asleep, he said "Mommy, do you know what shadows really are?"
    "What, honey?"
    "Fish"
    "Fish?"
    "Yes, fish."
    "oh. ok"

    and he fell asleep.

Jenn, I've been thinking about this one a lot All I can come up with is that we feed the fish from our dock bread every day at least once...and he loves them. Maybe he thinks that the fish under water look like shadows or...I don't know In any case, he seems to be cured from his shadowphobia.

That is cute. I think you are on to something with the fish in the lake. Poor sleepyhead trying to figure that all out. I love the things kids say as they are nodding off (as long as they aren't screaming about having one more glass of water ).

It may sound crazy, but I think that is soooo cute. Of course, I wasn't up with him all night.
