My nephew has bad allergies. We're not sure to what but the little guy is always rubbing his face & scalp. He's seen an allergist and dermatologist and the dermatologist said it's fine to give him Benadryl everyday for his problem. I'm assuming it's a low dose but do you think that treatment is okay to give every single day?

If you want, I can ask DH and PM you (remind me how old your nephew is). Did they see a pediatric dermatologist? I give my kids that or Claritin or Zyrtec but they are older than your nephew (for the Claritin or Zyrtec, not sure what the minimum age is). And before we had the whole rash thing for DD1 figured out, we gave Benedryl, sometimes once a day for a little while (she was 5). How is he doing with eating?

my middle child has an itchy face too - he's four and struggles with eczema and allergies and borderline asthma. He's on 4mg of singulaire every day. So is benadryl much worse than that? But mine still has the itchy face when things contact him that trigger it. Does your nephew have eczema? we have to keep my son's face moist with lubriderm or eucerin and then protect it with vaseline when we serve him acidic foods.
