  • First computer game

(and the reason for my 4am Dr. Suess thing)

I bought Nikolai the Dr. Suess ABC game for the mac. It's fantastic. The animators did a great job. He LOVES it. He'll play on the computer through the entire "book"- there are two options, one the book is read to them and the second is interactive where they can click on everything on the page and it talks about more words that start with whichever letter.

Of course, when we went back to the apple store (those are wise, wise people with kiddie computers set up in the middle of the store to entertain the kiddos while parents do their thing) he threw a fit because he wanted to continue to play the Dora the Explorer game.

But, if anyone has a mac and and extra 26 bucks- it's money well spent.

PS- although this now means that one more person is vying for my computer. and when Rick gets back? Yikes.

And, suddenly it all makes sense - I HATE that Dr. Suess's ABC game. When we first got it I had the little rhymes going through my head constantly. Nearly drove me insane!!!

Something far less annoying and with more educational content is the JumpStart Toddler game (followed by JumpStart Preschooler). I can actually listen to those and not go batty.

I think The Learning Company makes the best games...The Reader Rabbit series is great!

I just leave him on the computer and go sit on the porch swing w/ a magazine...

(I can see him through the window- I get me time, he gets 'he' time and all is well.)

I'll check out those recommendations- but he's not getting anything else for a while- the grandparents are coming twice this month....

As long as you don't have to listen to the inane rhymes!!!

My kids loved all of those games. Jump Start Toddler is the one that drove me nuts!
