  • Moms with 4+ kids

I need your help! One of DH's coworkers just had their 5th child. We are going to bring them a meal and I have no idea what (or how much!!)to bring to feed a large family! Any suggestions?? THANKS!!

BTW, I am in awe of all of you moms with several kids. I feel so inadequate when I go to their house. I can barely keep my head on straight with 2 kids.

Baked lasagna or ziti (two trays worth) and a salad with bread seem like they could feed a small army of adults and children...at least that is how my fam does it sometimes. good luck!

I would bring a 9x13 pan of something.

Lasagna, chicken enchiladas (mild), other chicken dishes, a beef roast, etc. would be some good ideas. You could also do something like burritos, where you bring items individually in gladware, so they can top them how they want.

Depending on the ages of their kids, I would bring enough food to feed 6 adults with vegetable side or salad and a pan of brownies or plate of cookies for dessert.

You are such a good friend!

And possibly a box of condoms with the instruction insert highlighted.

I also vote for baked ziti or something similar......I think I might skip the salad and bring something like green beans, but only because my children won't touch salad.

Well, either do a baked pasta dish (which is a really great idea) or bring what I usually do with my friends who have just given birth: Takeout. Call her up and ask her if she prefers Boston Market, KFC, or pizza. And, then go get it!

Sorry. I'm not much of a cook....

I don't think takeout is a bad idea, it's pretty good. We had a lady bring us dinner, that she made herself (we had to cook it in the oven) when I broke my foot during my pregnancy with Reed. Well the kids took one bite and spit it out, as did I, it was utterly disgusting. Matt ate quite a bit of it, and ended up with food poisoning. Maybe it tasted nasty for a reason.

My neighbor, however, down the street, won't take a homemade meal to anyone in fear of people not liking her cooking or that she will get them sick. So she does the same thing asks if you want pizza, or what not.

Totally kidding, of course! I am kind of jealous. It must be nice to have such a large family.
