I pumped for a year too with both kids. Boy, I dont miss those days- the annoyance of pumping combined with the stress of watching my milk supply dwindle as the months went by............

I dont have any good advice really, just to continue offering the same foods over and over.

Just keep offering different kinds of food, in different kinds of combinations. YOU might think it's nasty, but he might really love it. (I have a friend who mixes EVERYTHING into her son's yogurt because that's the only way she can get him to eat things - vegetable yogurt, anyone?)

And kudos to you on pumping for this long, you're doing a great job.

      And happy birthday Daegan!!!

A year? Really? Wow - its seems to have gone so fast. Then again I think the last five months have gone fast.

Sorry I can't help with the feeding issues but Happy Birthday to the little guy.

Neither of my kids ate baby food very well. They both kind of skipped that part and went to table food. Hey, it's my cooking, what can I say?

Anyway, I found what they liked and branched out from there. My DD had a really hard time with the textures of food and just couldn't handle it. I got her one of those mesh feeders and was able to put all sorts of things in it, with her two favorites being lemon wedges and pickles. You just never know what will get them going.

          Good luck!

Nikolai HATED baby foods because they didn't really get them in Russia. he was eating meat patties and bread at nine months.

So, maybe he's thinking, "man this stuff tastes like crap." In fact the only time we ever got him to eat baby food was 1) the organic stuff, 2) fully doctored up with butter, spices, herbs, etc.

(and really, have you tasted that stuff? some of it is really horrible. I read an article recently that said that they really don't need super mild stuff)

You have done and are doing a FANTASTIC job! World Health Organisation recommend that breast milk until your baby is 2 years old and as there is a family history of dairy intolerance I wouldn't push cows milk either.

I was going to suggest baby rice or oatmeal with breast milk and make it so its really watery consistency and gradually build up the consistency and then intro duce other tastes like puree fruits and veg.

                Happy Birthday Daegan!

                      Happy birthday! Time has flown.

I would say don't stress. Brigham absolutely hated and refused baby food. Our ped in Seattle suggested that we skip the baby food, and go to table food. So I gave him chunked banana, avocado, rice, cheerios, broccoli, etc. I also let him feed himself, which was the other part of the problem- he hated having someone spoon feed him. Once we did those two things, he was a much happier kid. Funny thing as I am thinking about this- out of the three who are eating solids- Brigham is the best and most diverse eater.

On the flip side, I have a 20 months old (Reed), who is extremely picky, and we are continually offering foods hoping that one day he might fall in love with it. I think it took over 20 different offerings of cantaloupe before he decided he liked it.

Keep up the good work, and from a former picky eater, he will eat some day.

The last few days have been better. I've followed most of the advice of try, try, try. I've started offering bits of our food...And like Heidi said, he likes my cooking!! He's not able to feed himself a 'meal' but he tries!!! And things are consistently making it to his mouth....the floor as well, which Pula loves!! He doesn't want me to feed him bits either....he enjoys playing with it himself.

Of course, I worked all day the last two days so I've just been pumping more.....but seeing him 'eating' reassures me there is an end in site.

                        Thanks everyone!!!!!

I remember when my 2nd kid weaned at 10 months. I was so sad to go back to a b from a c. And I missed that she wanted only me when she was hungry.
