    thanks, tara

so, this might sound stupid..but im kinda sad for ds. im happy for him, but sad too.

i have been trying to pump him up about school, getting him excited, telling him what he can do there..just talking about it. we are going for an open house tonight (if dh doesnt leave tonight..he might take ds with him)
and i have been chatting up how we're all going to his new school to see it, meet some other kids, his teacher...maybe he will meet someone, make a friend and said friend can possibly come over and play.

well, since yesterday all i have heard is, my new friends are going to come over and see my toys, swingset, bike, the basement that we play in, my room, etc, etc.

im happy for him that he is thinking this way, but im sad too. ds was such a loner last year...what if he doesnt make any friends. he is so excited about it, i dont want him to be let down.

he has also drawn on about 100 sheets of paper since yesterday..charts he calls them...with letters and numbers on them..."so my new teacher can hang them up and i can get a friend"

    am i a total freak.

Oh Sylvia...he'll do fine...the first week for us @ least, there was some crying and "i don't wanna go" when I'd wake them in the AMs. We are now into the second week, and it seems to be pretty great .
Oh and then there's the occasional announcement from DS on the ride home "mom I think there might be a poop stain in my undies "
He' s still not 100% @ getting himself clean, but I attribute that to him being lazy or in a rush...oh well it'll get better!

It's so cute that he's talking about showing his things to a friend that he'll invite over. It shows that he's really thinking about interacting with other kids. You are definitely encouraging him in the right direction. It seems to me that being social is a skill that kids learn, and it takes practice.
